ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL - BIG KAISER Precision Tooling Inc. introduces the new CKN modular connection - the strongest tool connection available for large boring tools utilizing both steel and lightweight aluminum components. This new system offers extremely high clamping forces for maximum torque transmission.

The CKN connection features a three-screw interface between steel double-connector couplings and aluminum extensions. When tightened, the slotted male connector expands to give additional rigidity.

This new system offers weight reductions up to 50% with equal cutting performance compared to tool combinations made solely of steel. This weight reduction allows for better machine performance, easier handling and eliminates manual tool changes in many instances. Additionally, the use of multiple materials helps dampen tool vibrations.

For large, heavy-duty roughing applications, various CKN components are available for optimized tool assemblies. However, the new CKN connection is almost 100% compatible with the existing Kaiser KAB system. Therefore, existing Kaiser modular components can be incorporated for lower torque operations such as finish boring.
