Announcing the 2020 International Technology Tour – Japan

The National Tooling & Machining Association (NTMA) and Canadian Tooling & Machining Association (CTMA) announce the sixth annual International Technology Tour. Approximately 30 member companies will visit manufacturing facilities in central Japan from April 18 to 25, 2020.

Participants will travel overseas to learn about new manufacturing technologies and methods to apply in their own shops. A particular advantage of foreign travel is to gain a fresh perspective and find original solutions to everyday challenges. For example, the high cost of land, energy and labor in other parts of the world affects how manufacturers layout their shops, integrate automation and manage scarce resources.

The trip is organized by association sponsors including BIG KAISER, DMG MORI, Blaser Swisslube and OSG Canada. During the weeklong tour, sponsors will demonstrate their latest technology and lead behind-the-scenes tours. Executives of the sponsoring companies often join guests for meals and the chance to connect with their North American customers.

After the facility visits and seminars, participants will have time for sightseeing, group dinners and an introduction to Japanese culture. It’s a perfect opportunity to share experiences and exchange ideas with manufacturing peers.

Sponsors take care of housing, ground transportation and most meals in Japan so that participants can enjoy a worry-free week. Guests need only to book their own flights to Nagoya on April 18, returning from Osaka on April 25. Members of NTMA and CTMA should contact their association representative for more details or to sign up for the 2020 International Technology Tour.
