What’s New at KAISER Switzerland
Newly Expanded Headquarters Opens in Time for 65th Anniversary.
This summer, KAISER Precision Tooling celebrated its 65th year of business in precision tool manufacturing. To commemorate its anniversary, KAISER opened a second building, co-located with its newly expanded and improved factory, in order to better facilitate its growing business.
65th Anniversary Picnic
On July 13, about 300 current, past and retired employees, family and friends gathered for the anniversary event, which featured a beautiful outdoor picnic, factory tours, speakers and socializing. “It’s been an incredible journey to 65 years, I remember living on the premises,” said Chris Kaiser, President of BIG Kaiser Precision Tooling, USA. “To see where KAISER has come since I was a child, and to see where it’s going, is very exciting. We look forward to the next 65 years.” Additionally evidencing KAISER’s commitment to the next chapter is the recently expanded, state-of-the-art factory dedicated to increasing efficiency and productivity.
KAISER — Synonymous with Precision since 1948
Originally, the KAISER headquarters in Rümlang, Switzerland, was composed of a single building housing the main factory and administration. However, around 2006, due to increased worldwide demand for their precision products, a second building down the road had to be leased to increase production capacity. With the two buildings separated by a half mile, this made it challenging to efficiently manage production and logistics.
With the building next to the headquarters suddenly going up for sale, it was the opportunity KAISER had been waiting for to bring their operations to one central location. After extensive renovations to the newly acquired building, some executives, along with sales, engineering, R&D, marketing and administration personnel were relocated under one roof. The new building also houses a tech center for tooling and machine demonstrations, and a classroom for large sales meetings and presentations.

The existing main factory was also expanded to nearly 27,000 sq. ft., and the new operation is significantly more efficient. The facility’s new machines and increased automation resulted in greater output with fewer man-hours and lights-out manufacturing. Management can easily oversee all production and employees are no longer forced to waste time walking between the two production facilities.
An additional benefit is the increased interaction between shop workers and the sales team. KAISER employees are better satisfied with the workflow and workplace environment, along with the revived kinship having all operations on one property again. When all departments are working side by side and executives are investing in the future of the company, employee morale goes up.
The executives at KAISER are constantly looking forward—searching for ways to improve customer satisfaction. “The ultimate reason we did this is to offer the customer more products, services and expand what we can offer to them. Our goal is to continually increase production and turnover,” says KAISER CEO, Peter Elmer.

The company’s evolution is constant and, according to KAISER executives, there’s no stopping expansion in the future. As the new facility continues to thrive, executives turn their attention to crafting solutions for increased product turnover.
