BIG KAISER’s One-of-a-Kind Donation to an Indiana High School

BIG KAISER is BIG in supporting education. Nowadays, you hear so much in the manufacturing community that there are fewer students able to work in manufacturing as a result of lacking in skills. Well, not on Mr. Chris Kaiser’s watch. Both manufacturing and workforce development education is high atop the minds at BIG KAISER. Chris Kaiser, president and CEO, spearheads learning opportunities for students with field trip tours at the Headquarters and even after-hours events for parents to take part in. Recently, a BIG KAISER technology partner, Andretti Autosport in Indianapolis, was replacing a Speroni MAGIS tool presetting and measuring system with an up-graded machine. The original working equipment now needed a good home and so the search began. Can you imagine the thrill for any High School machine shop to receive a tool presetter machine that used to live at Andretti Autosport? Well, just imagine how much cooler this TMS machine became with autographs adorned on it from Michael and Marco Andretti and Ryan Hunter-Reay! This could be THE inspirational learning machine which, may catapult the next machinist genius into one of the most famous racing company’s machine shop. It makes a person’s mind wonder if they could be part of such an organization; studying hard and working toward a finish line…just like racin’.

The lucky recipient of this tool presetter was the Precision Machining class at the Plymouth Community School Corporation. This school is the result of a public-private consortium supported by ITAMCO (Indiana Technology and Manufacturing Company), Ivy Tech Community CollegeNCAVC(North Central Area Vocational Cooperative) and Plymouth Community Schools Corporation. The group’s mission is to better prepare students for the demands of today’s technology-driven manufacturing jobs.

“Every student leaves the program with a minimum skill set of manual mill and lathe setup experience, blueprint reading including GD&T, and precision measurement use,” said Scott Kaser, instructor at Plymouth Community School. Kaser went on to say, “The addition of the Speroni TMS gives students a well-rounded skill level of all the possible ways tools could be setup in a CNC production environment”.

Let’s give a #shoutout to Andretti Autosport and #BIGKAISER for their impact and inspiration to students everywhere.
