First Productivity Day Event a Big Hit at BIG Kaiser

We were happy to host more than thirty end users, distributors and vendors alike at last week’s Productivity Day event, held on June 24, 2014. An educationally-minded, open house-style effort to share some tricks of the trade that we’ve all picked up over the years, Productivity Day was designed for industry professionals. This week’s event didn’t disappoint in that regard; it was clear that there was a lot of knowledge in one showroom. It didn’t hurt that also backing the event and on hand to share were industry-leading companies such as Blaser SwisslubeFullerton Tool CompanyHeule Precision Tools, and Mitsubishi Materials.

The day kicked-off at 8 a.m. with the BIG Kaiser showroom open for demos on tool presetters, live cutting demonstrations and product displays. A catered continental breakfast was also served.

Five 30-40 minute technical sessions followed, presented by each of the five hosting companies discussing new products, technologies and how to apply them:

  • Session 4: Metalworking fluid technologies and the leverage effect

Following each seminar were one-on-one discussions with established industry leaders in metalcutting, designed to help attendees find productivity growth opportunities in their shops. The ultimate goal was to help attendees drive down cycle times and share helpful cost saving measures with one another.

Door prizes up for grabs included Chicago Cubs tickets, putters and golf balls, an iPad mini and other goodies. But those who didn’t win still got breakfast and some BBQ for lunch.

The event concluded with a partners brainstorm on how to make Productivity Day bigger and better next year. It was a first time event, and we know we didn’t do it perfectly, but we all felt the concept is worth nurturing and growing.
