All About BIG KAISER’s 2017 Breakfast & Learn

Another successful Breakfast & Learn event, packed with valuable tooling information, wrapped up last week. Before’s Innovation Days Chicago each day, attendees stopped by to enjoy some breakfast, tour our stocked showroom, hear technical presentations and see live demonstrations from experienced engineers and product experts.

From May 16 through May 18, there was a technical session every day at 8:30 a.m. These three different technical presentations helped pack value into the day. For those that couldn’t attend or didn’t see all three presentations, we wanted to provide a summary of what was discussed.

Tuesday’s theme was 5-axis workholding systems and applications. The purpose of the session was to define the work zones of 5-axis machining, inherent associated tooling problems and methodology for designing the most versatile quick-change solution for these complex setups.

On Wednesday, the presentation focused on important considerations to optimize micro tooling performance. We wanted to help improve attendees’ understanding of unique areas, such as equipment capabilities, tool holder quality and cutting tool geometry needed to optimize micro tooling performance.

Thursday’s presentation focused on selecting the best feed-rate optimization strategy. David Sutkey, Sales Engineer at CGTech VERICUT, discussed the steps required to achieve the benefits of high-efficiency machining by utilizing software to automatically optimize NC program feed rates. There was also an overview of how to integrate the tool presetting process with NC verification software, an easy way to reduce new program start up time.

All day every day, we kept our doors open for visitors to come look at live demos and pick our engineers’ brains. We appreciated seeing everyone at Breakfast & Learn and are looking forward to seeing more friendly faces next year!
