Cutting Tool Engineering Article Illustrates the KAISER Difference
Any time a customer comes forward and is willing to publicly discuss their experiences with our products it’s really exciting. That’s because it’s typically to share some pretty dramatic improvements as the result of using a BIG Kaiser product. And that was the case when Cornelia, Ga-based Southland CNC Inc. talked to Cutting Tool Engineering for its December issue.
In the article, “Finish boring tools that ‘just work,’” Southland CNC detailed how KAISER 112 and 310 series boring heads have in some cases reduced scrap rates from about 8 percent to .2 and increased output up to 40 percent. Impressive and profit-affecting numbers to be sure, but the article also discusses an even more impactful, lesser-thought-of outcome of a tooling upgrade: attracting new customers.

When a prospective customer approached Southland CNC with the challenge of machining an intricate starter housing part, it was a last ditch effort. They were about to scrap the project; seven other shops refused to even attempt the job. Armed with BIG Kaiser tooling, Southland CNC accepted the challenge and turned out a product better than spec on the first try.
