Experts-Meet-Experts at DMDII—America’s New Manufacturing Technology Hub
There’s a rare opportunity for machining professionals and executives on September 3 in Chicago—and it’s free to boot. Not only will they have the chance to hear directly from experts in the field—our own VP of Sales and Engineering, Jack Burley included—about the future of machining processes, there will be the chance to see firsthand what’s happening at one of our country’s most important private/public initiatives.
The Digital Manufacturing and Design Innovation Institute (DMDII) will be hosting a daylong event, organized and produced by Blaser Swisslube, called Experts-meet-Experts. DMDII is a first-of-its-kind hub where leaders in government, education and industry are coming together to explore the digital thread that’s tying manufacturing processes together from design to delivery, the driving force behind smart manufacturing.
During Experts-meet-Experts, key contributors in the project will discuss their role today and where they see their areas of expertise heading in the future. Jack will kick off the day at 9:00 am with his presentation “Higher Productivity Milling – Advanced Cutter and Tool Holding Technology.”
Here’s a quick description:
High-performance milling centers are purchased with the intention of increasing throughput and workpiece quality. To achieve this goal, many of the traditional methods and tooling must be changed, especially when working with hard metals and/or high speed cutting. BIG KAISER, an industry leader in the production of many different types of tool holders, will outline the current advantages and disadvantages of each type of tool holder and offer suggestions for applying each technology for optimum output and quality.
In addition to the presentations by BIG KAISER, ChipBLASTER, bielomatik and Machinery Tooling & Supply, there will be tooling, presetting and machine demonstrations. Leaders from DMDII will also give a presentation and take questions about the institute. The agenda can be viewed here.
Coffee will be provided in the morning and lunch will be catered.
