6 Gifts from Us to You
Happy Holidays from all of us here at BIG KAISER. We hope your year was filled with joy and success and that the next brings even more. Hopefully you’re enjoying a well-deserved break like many of us are—we all work hard in this business!
Since it’s the season of giving, we wanted to revisit five of our most useful deliveries this year, from online tools that make ordering products easier to actionable advice on some of the trickiest jobs in metalworking.
- Standing column in Fabricating & Metalworking magazine
About this time last year, we received a nice gift ourselves. We were offered the opportunity to pen the “Depth of Cut” column in Fabricating & Metalworking magazine. It’s given our engineers a chance to share their expertise and learnings from the field in the form of useful tips and insight into emerging metalworking technologies and techniques. Education is something we believe in very strongly and this was a perfect avenue to share the in-house expertise we have in an array of metalworking sectors.
Click here to learn how to access this valuable column and about our very first from earlier this year on the differences between licensed and unlicensed BIG-PLUS® tooling.
- An introduction to multi-axis workholding
We work closely with the National Tooling and Machining Association (NTMA) because we share similar goals of educating and developing the next generation of manufacturing workers. In fact, our president and CEO, Chris Kaiser, recently won their 2016 Distinguished Service Award. But, that’s another story.
Our team often provides educational opportunities for NTMA members. Earlier this year, our workholding product manager, John Zaya, hosted a 30-minute webinar called “Multi-Axis Quick-Change Workholding Systems.” In it he discussed the newest technologies and how to select the right workholding for your shop. Watch it here.
- Another successful Breakfast & Learn
Our annual Breakfast & Learn event is a great opportunity for metalworking professionals to learn some of the latest and greatest techniques and technologies making an impact on the industry. This year each of our engineers delivered presentations—six in all—on their areas of expertise.
Among others, attendees learned from presentations like “Precisions Finish Boring Tips and Tricks” and “Tool Holder Service and Maintenance.” Read more about the event and where you can see the presentations for yourself here.
- Real-time online stock check
We know you don’t have time to waste spec’ing out tools only to find out from your distributor that they are not available. In February of this year, we made it easy for anyone to see the real-time stock status of nearly every item we sell.
Learn more about the tool as well as some tips for how to best use it here.
- Tons of new products
It was another IMTS year, which means the release of impactful innovations like our mobile boring app and all kinds of new products, including a slimmed-down Hi-Power Milling Chuck with direct clamping of Ø.500″ shanks, expanded anti-vibration/damping tools and coolant-through spindle Angle Heads, just to name a few. You can find them all in our 2016 Supplemental Catalog.
You’ll also find much more than just part numbers and specs. Our catalogs are truly educational tools. You’ll learn applications, see detailed graphic demonstrations and real-world test results and learn best practices. Learn more about what’s new in the catalog and how you can view it online here.
- Faster Sphinx deliveries
Earlier this year we streamlined our ordering process and doubled the frequency of our deliveries from the factory in Switzerland. We have thousands of Sphinx drills on hand at any time, but should one you need happen to not be in stock, you can rest assured you’ll have it within a max of seven days (worst case scenario). Of course, we always recommend ordering tooling before you run out, but in case you don’t or can’t, we’re now getting you the Sphinx tools you need faster than ever. Learn more here.
