New, Improved EWN Finish Boring Heads with
Vernier Take High Precision Accuracy to New Level |

| ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL—BIG Kaiser Precision Tooling has added a high precision Vernier scale to its EWN series 112 and 310 finish boring heads to take high precision accuracy to a new level. The new, improved EWN heads will be featured in BIG Kaiser’s Booth E-2005 at IMTS 2004, September 8-15, in Chicago’s McCormick Place. |

| Kaiser’s EWN heads feature micrometer adjustment precision, with large, smooth adjusting dials graduated in increments of .0005" diameter adjustment. The new heads with Vernier add add a graduated scale that allow diameter corrections down to .0001" with ease. On Kaiser’s series 112 heads, which have adjustment precision to .0002", the Vernier allows adjustment precision to .00005". |

| The Vernier feature will be standard option on all EWN series heads in the coming months as new production is placed into inventory. Additionally, no price increases are planned, allowing current users the added benefit without higher costs. |

| Kaiser’s EWN heads cover diameters from .787" to 8.000". They provide the largest work range of any system by using three insert holders for each head. The versatile insert holder design allows the heads to be easily turned around and used for back boring, making standard an operation that often required a special tool. The EWN insert holder puts cutting edges on the centerline, providing superior chip control and evacuation. |

| The EWN system provides improved stability and balance for high speed operation. Important features include superior design of the locking system that clamps the tool carrier and adjusting dial, making the tool more stable and safer, especially for high speed boring. Kaiser engineers have also given the smaller heads a larger adjusting dial that is easier to see and use. |

| Kaiser’s locking system prevents any diameter shift under locking action force, assuring the operator of repeatable diameter precision. All tool movement is strictly radial, making length corrections required on angular mounted tools unnecessary. A Kaiser EWN head can be precisely set to finish size after only one trial pass, resulting in a drastic reduction in expensive downtime and scrap. |

Insert holders are designed for use with positive rake indexable inserts and use self-centering, center clamping insert screws, providing lower cutting forces and improved chip evacuation when compared to top clamping systems. Through spindle coolant capability is standard.
