New
Cost-Effective Speroni Basic Vision System
Makes Tool Measurement Automatic |
| |
| Elk
Grove Village, IL - A new cost-effective Speroni Basic Vision
System that makes tool measurement automatic is now available from
BIG Kaiser Precision Tooling Inc. |
|
|
| Digital
tool sensing removes potential for error inherent in manual measurement
systems that rely on the operator's eyesight and judgment to focus
and align tools within the optics of a tool presetter. It assures
reproducibility and precision settings, no matter which operator
uses the instrument. |
| |
| After
inserting the tooling into the Speroni Model STP34's spindle,
an operator using the Basic Vision System sets maximum diameter
by reading simple digital values and following color codes on a
color display monitor, aligning the tool to the cross hair. |
| |
| "Digital
tool sensing with computer controls is especially recommended for
operations where it is necessary to hold tighter tolerances. It
can provide resolution down to 10 millionths of an inch on the diameter.
It also provides consistent readings that will not vary with each
individual operator's judgment." Says Edward A. Perchess, BIG Kaiser's
National Product Manager, Tool Measuring/Workholding Systems. |
|
| The
video measuring system features a center point indicator that is
ideal for presetting angular cuts, as in chamfering. It may also
be used to calculate nose radii and angles. |
|
| The
unlimited flexibility of the Basic Vision System allows for personalized
output, a complete range of geometric constructions, online presetting
of the tool (diameter, length, angles, radii, distances, zoom, etc.)
It is fully retrofittable to any Speroni high precision non-contact
tool presetter and measurement system. |
|
| STP
34's measure tool diameter up to 12" and tool length up to
16", with repeatability to plus or minus 1 tenth (.0001").
Its pearlitic cast iron construction provides the greatest possible
rigidity and resistance to temperature expansion and contraction.
Its high precision spindle has a maximum total runout of .0003"
(.0075mm), allowing for precise diameter measurements at any tool
length. |
|
| The
STP34's spindle has a gage point reference that makes it possible
to perform calibrations without a test bar. The system features
an extremely smooth motion along the Z and X axes, with a simultaneous
and individual locking mechanism. Fine adjustments are provided
throughout the travel range. |
|
| "The
STP34 eliminates the trial and error of tool set-up. It is fully
compatible with DNC and CIM systems to provide first-part precision,
increasing profitability by maximizing use of machine tools for
what they're made to do - cut parts, " Perchess says. |
