Speroni/Briney
Tru-Axis Shrink Fit Tool Presetting System:
Fast, Automatic, Repeatable, Tool Height Precision of +/- .0004". |
| |
| Elk
Grove Village, IL - Speroni has teamed up with Briney Tooling
Systems to create a shrink fit tool presetting system that is fast,
fully automatic and achieves repeatable precision of +/- .0004"
for setting tool height. The system's stability and clamping power
deliver superior concentricity. |
|
|
| The
new Speroni/Briney Tru-Axis shrink-fit tool presetting system
was designed for presetting drills, end mills, taps or any tooling
that uses a shrink fit process to achieve peak performance at higher
cutting speeds and feeds. It combines a Speroni high precision
tool presetter with Briney's Shrinker Thermo-Contraction Toolholding
System to provide the industry's only reliable method of assuring
correct tool length of shrink fit tooling automatically. |
|
| The
Speroni/Briney Tru-Axis system incorporates an air actuated
linear scale for setting cutting tool length in shrink fit tooling.
The Speroni Tool Management software enables the operator to
quickly select the desired tool assembly from the organized library
and call up the pertinent tool data. |
|
| The
operator loads the holder adapter into the presetter spindle, and
then loads the tool into the Speroni "F-21" adapter to
measure overall length. It allows clamping a wide range of diameters
for set-up and inspection. The presetter transfers the height information
to the shrink-fit machine. |
|
| The
Shrinker's heating cycle expands the toolholder ID about .001"
in only 7 seconds before the tool is inserted against the preset
top and held in place for just seconds. At this time, the actuated
stop retracts to prevent undue stress on the assembly, and the holder
is ready to be cooled. |
|
| For
maximum safety and convenience, the toolholder remains clamped in
the spindle for a brief cooling cycle performed right on the Tru-Axis
machine. As the holder cools, it grips the cutting tool. After the
cooling cycle, the operator removes the holder and tool assembly
and verifies the length in the presetter. The complete checking,
heating and cooling process takes only 3-6 minutes per tool. |
|
| This
advancement in presetting and shrink fit technology, the Tru-Axis
shrink fit presetting system, brings the advantages of shrink fit
tooling to production facilities by fulfilling the requirement of
a simple, automatic tool presetting procedure. |
