ELK
GROVE VILLAGE, IL—The redesigned BIG Daishowa Hi-Jet
Holder, which provides coolant induction for machining centers
without through-spindle coolant at speeds up to 10,000 RPM
and pressures up to 290 PSI (20 bar), is now available from
BIG Kaiser Precision Tooling Inc.
The Hi-Jet Holder improves hole making by forcing coolant through
cutting tool coolant holes, allowing operations at faster speeds
and feeds. It minimizes overheating and workpiece distortion,
allowing cutting tools to provide faster metal removal by aiding
chip evacuation during the machining process. To meet increasing
demand for high speed operations with carbide cutters, Hi-Jet
Coolant Feed Holders are available in four different
models with a .118" to 2.0" diameter range:
· New Baby Chuck Type – offers
high precision suitable for small diameter drills, gun drills
and endmills;
· Collet Chuck Type – accepts
popular TG100 single angle-style collets;
· Side Lock Type – suitable
for popular straight shanks by set screw clamping.
·
KAISER KAB Type – improves boring and indexable drilling
efficiency by adapting to all modular components of Kaiser tools. The common shank tapers of BT40, BT50, CAT40 and CAT50 are
all available with the four types and selection is based on cutting
tool size, machine make and model. Their compact design and 360-degree
adjustability assures compatibility with automatic tool changers,
ensuring coolant delivery required for high speed cutting.
A unique design feature channels coolant through a separate
sealing section, known as the Merit Set, directly into the center
of the tool holder shank. This non-contact seal design prevents
coolant from coming into contact with the bearings, thereby reducing
wear and tear on the tool itself.
“Hi-Jet Holders are designed to introduce through-spindle
coolant to machining centers that until now could not be used
for coolant fed operations,” explained Chris Prystawsky,
Assistant Product Manager, BIG Tooling Systems. “Small
diameter cutters require high spindle speeds, as well as high
coolant pressure due to the small diameter coolant holes. By
having the coolant inducer and seals separated from the bearing
assembly, users gain the advantage of high speed, high pressure
cutting conditions without damaging the main body or bearings.”
