Two
New Precision Face Milling Tools
Added To BIG Kaiser's Modular Tooling System |
| |
| ELK
GROVE VILLAGE, IL - Two new face milling tools designed to achieve
high metal removal rates, especially for deep pocket or long reach
milling, have been introduced to BIG Kaiser Precision Tooling's
modular tooling system. |
|
|
| Both
new tools - the 45° face milling cutter and the 90° square
shoulder cutter - use Kaiser's KAB6 connection. Their cutting diameters
(2.677") are slightly larger than the KAB6 body, enhancing
their ability to reach into deep pockets for applications close
to walls or other obstacles without interfering with the tool shank
body. |
|
| "These
new face milling tools, the first introduced in Kaiser's modular
tooling system, have been designed and manufactured to achieve the
absolute lowest axial/radial runout of all cutting edges. Their
integral KAB6 construction have large chip evacuation grooves to
deliver optimum performance of most materials. The high positive
geometry reduces power and torque requirements resulting in smooth
and vibration-free cutting," says Jack Burley, BIG Kaiser's
Vice President, Engineering. |
|
| "The
integral KAB6 construction of these new tools assures better rigidity
than using face mill or shell mill adaptors. The high positive,
free cutting insert geometries are especially beneficial for deep
reach milling," Burley adds. |
|
| The
45° face milling cutter (10.335.801) uses five SDHT09T3 inserts,
available in three grades for milling the three major work groups-steel,
aluminum and cast iron. The 90° square shoulder cutter (10.335.802)
uses six APHT1604 inserts, also available in three grades for the
three work groups. |
|
| The
face milling tools have coolant through the tool for efficient chip
evacuation, especially important when machining aluminum. The holes
can be used for coolant or air blasting to improve chip evacuation. |
|
| "These
new tools add an important new dimension to the Kaiser modular tooling
system. They extend the versatility of the KAB connection,"
Burley says. |
