Economical EzVision Field Upgrade Offers
Speroni Users Value, Many New Features |
| |
| ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL—A new, economical EzVision system field upgrade offers users of any Speroni STP series tool presetters features never before available at an exceptional value, BIG Kaiser Precision Tooling Inc. announced. |
| |
| The
Speroni PC-based EzVision control is a full featured digital
vision system that is easy to use and virtually eliminates
the risk
of operator error inherent in manual measurement systems that
rely on the operator’s sighting and judgment to focus and align
tools within the optics of a tool presetter. It assures reproducibility
of precision settings, no matter which operator uses the instrument. |
| |
| The new field upgrade, seamlessly completed at the Speroni STP user’s location, for the first time offers automatic tool recognition—automatic icon measurement of a tool’s maximum height and diameter, angles, radii and intersect points, once it has the tool image in the field of view. |
| |
| The
EzVision control features a centering indicator box that is
ideal for presetting angular cuts, as in chamfering. A second
new feature, called Speroni Edge Finder, uses the front light
capability to perform various geometric calculations, such
as measurement of radii (using 3 or more points), angle, included
angle between 2 lines, distance between 2 points, distance
between circles, distance from point to circle, distance between
lines, distance between point and line, and distance between
circle and line. |
| |
| The EzVision system’s quick gage capability will measure any tool with unmatched accuracy. It provides management and display of the cutting edge image on the same monitor as the Speroni PC-based EzVision control. |
| |
| Measuring a tool is automatic, once the tool is inserted into the spindle and drawn into the field of view. The computer replaces the digital readout used on many presetters, so the operator does not have to learn to operate two sets of controls—both digital readout and computer monitor. |
| |
| “Vision-based
tool measurement is especially recommended for operations where
it is necessary to hold tighter tolerances. It provides resolution
down to 39 millionths of an inch on the diameter. Also, it
provides consistent readings that will not vary with each individual
operator’s judgment,” says Douglas Sumner, BIG Kaiser’s
Product Manager, Tool Presetting and Tool Measuring Systems. |
| |
| The
STP EzVision’s measurement accuracy includes repeatability
to plus or minus 1 micron/0.000039", data memory for more than
250 zero set points and 1,000 nominal tool dimensions. |
| |
|
The Speroni PC-based EzVision control (operating system Windows XP™) comes complete with VGA color monitor, mouse and keyboard. The Dell PC comes with a three-year in customer’s shop warranty.
|
| |
Options
available for the STP EzVision system include:
- Post processor software that sends offsets directly to the machining center, eliminating paperwork and potential errors.
- Password user management, which restricts access to options at different work stations, allowing management to control editing of tool programs.
- Tool jobs management, which bundles groups of tools together by job.
- Maximum profile/runout management, which enables the control to measure as the tool rotates 360 degrees and memorize the setting for each insert (important for valve seat tooling or a ball nose endmill) and automatically measure runout.
- Modify measurement macros, which allows the user to create an infinite number of macros.
