For
High Speed Boring of Small Diameters, BIG Kaiser’s
EW2-12 Opens New High Performance Possibilities |
| |
| ELK
GROVE VILLAGE, IL—For
finish boring small diameters from .075" (1.9 mm) to .500
(12.7 mm), BIG Kaiser Precision Tooling’s new EW2-12 Hi-Speed
precision boring head opens new possibilities in high performance
cutting. It gives automatic balance precision with a manual fine
balancing mechanism for spindle speeds up to 30,000 RPM. |
| |
| The
new EW2-12 program, an extension of Kaiser’s Series
112 precision finishing heads for high speed operations,
offers nine different
boring bars. It is available with the Kaiser modular KA3 connection
or 16 mm straight shanks. Through tool coolant is provided
at the cutting edge. |
| |
| With
a high precision Vernier scale, the new heads feature micrometer
adjustment
precision, with large, smooth adjusting dials graduated in
increments down to .0001" on diameter. |
| |
| “These
new heads combine precision with high speed productivity. They
are ideally suited for small diameter applications in the automotive,
aerospace and medical products industries,” says Matt
Tegelman, BIG Kaiser Product Manager—Kaiser Tooling Systems. |
| |
| The
EW2-12 heads provide improved stability and balance for high
speed operation.
Important features include superior design of the locking system
that clamps the tool carrier and adjusting dial, making the
tool more stable and safer, especially for high speed boring.
The diameter adjustment is made by rotating the boring bar
along its center of gravity, which keeps the assembly balanced
for any diameter—no need to remove the tool from the
spindle to re-balance or adjust balancing rings. |
| |
| Kaiser’s
locking system prevents any diameter shift under locking action
force, assuring the operator of repeatable diameter precision.
A Kaiser EW2-12 head can be precisely set to finish size after
only one trial pass, resulting in a drastic reduction in expensive
downtime and scrap. |
