New
Back Bore Insert Holder Program
Vastly Expands BIG Kaiser's Back Boring Range |
| |
| ELK
GROVE VILLAGE, IL - A new back bore insert holder program (689)
vastly expands BIG Kaiser Precision Tooling's range of back boring
applications, the company announced. |
| |
| New
back boring insert holders for the 112 finish boring program cover
a range from 0.622" (15.8mm) to 1.772" (45mm). A second
set of back boring insert holders used with the 315 rough boring
program covers diameters from 1.614" (41mm) to 5.669"
(144mm). For both programs, the only new component required to set
up a back boring tool is the insert holder. |

| |
| "These
insert holders open a new area of applications for BIG Kaiser. They
add the capability to use standard components for rough and finish
boring of a large range of diameters while providing increased coverage
of small bore sizes," says Application Engineer Alan Miller. |
| |
| Back
boring is a process by which a larger bore is produced though a
smaller entry point. Among its many applications are bearing bores
on transfer cases, back counter bores on die plates, and back counterbore
for screw heads. |
| |
| New
insert holders for the 112 finish boring program use the same carbide
and steel bars that the standard boring insert holders use and take
advantage of the boring head's many popular features. These features
include telescoping adaptation of the tool projection for any specific
user requirement and through spindle coolant flow. They use standard
inserts and assemble to standard 112 heads with dial adjustments
in increments of .0002"/DIA (metric dial=0.05mm). |
| |
| Back
boring applications for precision finish boring tools include die
and mold base manufacture, where tolerances typically require accurate
adjustments of the boring bar to hold required sizes. The Kaiser
112 program's combination of features allows extremely accurate
setting of finish size after only one trial pass, eliminating time
consuming trial and error boring cuts and their potential for producing
expensive scrap. |
| |
| Back
boring insert holders for the 315 program attach to KA3-KA6 rough
boring heads and complement the back boring capabilities of the
310 finish boring program. The new insert holders achieve large
stock removal at higher speeds and feeds than the finish boring
program. |
