Kaiser
Offers New Balanceable Boring Head
Using KA5 Connection for Smaller Machines |
| |
| ELK
GROVE VILLAGE, IL - BIG Kaiser Precision Tooling Inc. announced
a new series 112 balanceable boring head using the KA5 connection
for diameters from 2 mm (.078" 0 to 32 mm (1.260"). |
| |
| The
new 112.316 (inch calibration) or 112.306 (metric calibration) balanceable
boring head completement of the 112.117 and 112.107 balanceable
heads with the KA6 connection, introduced in 1997. It has been designed
for use on smaller machines with 30 or 40 taper spindles. |
| |
| Balanceable
heads provide superior performance and enhanced tool and spindle
life, especially in high speed applications. Balancing is done by
an integrated counterbalance mechanism that is actuated by a scale
ring. Rotating the balance ring adjusts a counterbalance mechanism
to offset the imbalance created by the boring bar and insert holder.
Through use of a balancing table supplied with each head, proper
balance ring position can be quickly and easily determined based
on the components and bore diameter. |
| |
| The
head features a through bored tool receiver in its adjustable tool
carrier for ease of length adjustment and through tool coolant flow
to the cutting edge. Diameter is adjustable in increments of .0005". |
| |
| Use
of balanced heads provides the greatest assurance of optimum performance.
Modern cutting materials such as poly-crystalline diamond (PCD)
and cubic boron nitride (CBN) perform best with high speed operation.
Balanceable tooling gives the optimum surface footage required for
peak production and high finish quality. |
| |
| Balancing
the heads extends tool life and also contributes to longer machine
spindle life. Balanceable heads produce a noticeable improvement
in surface finish. Balanceable heads are highly recommended for
high speed applications and will enhance performance even in moderate
speed applications.
|
| |
| All
boring heads use ISO standard positive geometry inserts to reduce
cutting force and improve chip control. A full line of PCD and CBN
tipped inserts us available to support the highest production rates
in a wide range of high speed applications. |
